Many of you are on the frontlines providing critical support to children and families throughout our community during the Covid-19 pandemic.  The trustees and staff of the Burnstein Foundation are actively monitoring the developing needs of organizations providing essential services for ongoing and future Covid-19 related investments.

  • Funding is provided only to organizations exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation does not provide grants to individuals.
  • Tulsa Area United Way agencies or organizations which demonstrate community partnerships are more actively supported.
  • Political organizations or parties, candidates for political office, and organizations whose primary purpose is to influence legislation are not supported.
  • Event sponsorships are supported on a limited basis. The Foundation directs the majority of its giving directly to services and programs.
  • Only organizations whose policies encourage diversity and inclusion and nondiscrimination are given consideration for funding.
  • Applications may be made at any time for support of activities consistent with the Foundation’s guidelines.

Content and Process:

Initial requests should provide a brief overview and summary of the organization’s history and mission; its accomplishments and challenges; a description of the proposal including benefits and impact; the amount requested; evaluation and sustainability criteria; and the contact information for the organization.

Following receipt of this information, a preliminary review will be undertaken to determine consistency with the overall mission and goals of the Foundation. If the application is determined to warrant further consideration, supporting documentation regarding recent audits, budgets, major funders, partnerships, board members, compliance with all State and Federal filing regulations, etc. will be required to complete the application process.

Recipients of Burnstein Foundation funding may use grant funds only for the purpose stated in the grant application. Funded entities are expected to report their progress prior to seeking further funding. Multiyear requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
